  15. <p>     DIED. Robert Noyce, 62, co-inventor of the integrated
  16. circuit and a founder of Intel Corp., whose microprocessors
  17. dominate the personal-computer industry; of a heart attack; in
  18. Austin. Noyce's microchips permitted an electronic
  19. miniaturization that, in addition to personal computers, led
  20. to such commonplace wonders as pocket calculators, video games
  21. and antilock brakes. After a 32-year career pioneering the
  22. development of California's Silicon Valley, Noyce moved in 1988
  23. to Austin to head Sematech, a government and industry research
  24. consortium working to keep the U.S. apace with Japan in
  25. semiconductor manufacturing technology.
